David Lyman | Sunday morning | Royal Oak, Michigan
Sunday morning
The heat wave has broken. The air is clear and cool. And finally, there's a breeze. The blackout is like some weird dream that's passed. On the one hand, it was nightmarish; steamy hot, food thawing, lunatic drivers everywhere. But for the first time in ages, I could see the stars at night. Neighbors I'd never met were on their porches. And now, just as quickly, it's "normal" again. Invisible neighbors. Bleached-out nighttime sky. But for this moment, at least, there's still a sliver of bliss.
