The Metropolitan Museum of Art is very big but it doesn't have a huge "modern" art collection (that space being dominated in this city by MoMA). There was a thunderstorm a few days ago when I was there and I wanted to go to the back where there are skylights and hear the rain and thunder so I stood next to a Chuch Close self portrait, looked up, and realized that I should make my own self portrait. There were thousands of lightning "touch downs" in New York City that evening.
